Chapter 13

Stephen walked out of the trailer, holding Blair’s hand and helping her down. He didn’t know Georgia decided to deliver. Let alone keep the baby! She’d cut ties with him and never reached out for the past five years. The moment she left it was as if she dropped off the face of the earth. It tore Stephen and his heart was ripped out of his chest.

He missed his baby. And to find out she had one of her own, he couldn’t just let Jake take Blair away. Stephen hoped Georgia would divorce the man. She deserved better. She also deserved her daughter in her life! Stephen wasn’t going to let history repeat itself.

“I don’t get it,” Jessica, Trevor’s wife, spoke up, showing her confusion. “Why would he come back?”

Stephen looked over to find Jake gone. Georgia, Russ, Jessica, and Trevor were sitting around the fire pit. Nayla found her way over while Lionel walked over to his truck. Everyone was confused.

“I don’t know,” Georgia shrugged.

Nayla sat down next to Georgia in the two-person chair. “What happened?”

Georgia looked at Nayla. “Jake,” she explained.

Nayla blinked slowly, confused. “You remember?”

“All thanks to seeing my daughter.” Georgia looked over at her dad and their eyes met.

He gave her an approving nod, encouraging her to continue. She looked back at Nayla.

“The moment I saw her I remembered,” she finished.

Nayla nodded her head.

“Georgie,” Stephen started, grabbing his beloved daughter’s attention. Their eyes met. He shook his head at her. “Don’t let him convince you. Or her. You two deserve better.”

“But, Dad,” Georgia protested.

“No.” He shook his head in disapproval. “I can’t afford to lose you a second time.”

Georgia sighed and sagged. She nodded her head then turned her attention to Russ as he spoke up.

“Just don’t go to his cabin,” he said. “I’ll take Blair back.”

“No!” Georgia jumped up and walked over to Stephen, who handed Blair over to her. She took Blair in her arms then turned to Russ. “You’re a stranger to her. My dad or I will take her.” Georgia shook her head. “If Jake saw you with Blair, he would freak. And Blair would just panic because she doesn’t know you.”

Russ sighed in defeat. But he nodded his head to confirm he heard Georgia loud and clear. “Okay. But make it your dad. If Jake so much as lays his hand on you-,”

“He won’t.” Georgia interrupted. “He won’t hurt me. He doesn’t have it in him.”

“I hope you're right,” Russ whispered.

Stephen kissed Georgia’s temple. “Let me take Blair to the cabin. You should stay here for the bachelorette party.”

Georgia nodded her head then looked up at her dad. “Thanks, Dad,” she whispered softly. “I appreciate it.”

“Anything for you, baby.”

“I’m not your baby,” Georgia mumbled.

Stephen met her gaze. “You’re my baby girl,” he insisted “And my one and only.”

Georgia lifted an eyebrow at Stephen, making him realize his words came out wrong. He cringed.

“I mean… You’re my one and only daughter,” he amended. “And I’m grateful you’re my daughter.”

“Uh huh,” Georgia dragged out teasingly, nodding her head.
